Ummati, Ummati, Ummati.

I’m not too sure how many of you guys are aware of this, but there’s an atheist bus campaign going on over in the UK.

No kidding.

Yeah.

I don’t know what the deal exactly is with the people responsible for organising this, but if they’re looking for a place to get their message across, have they considered finding their own private spot to congregate instead of using public transport to propagate their idealogy and basically pissing people off? If I relied on public transport over there as much as I do over here, I’d be having an internal fit.

This is just in-your-face offensive for those of us who do believe in a higher Being, for those of us who believe in Him.

And ‘probably’ no God? What, are they still undecided? Maybe they should take a vote, just to, you know, verify their position on God’s existence and all, make sure no one’s confused.

“One does not get cloer to God with baseless understanding and overwhelming doubt.” - Sheikh Abdussalam

Reading this ad is like being slapped across the face. I have my own faith, but do I go out and put up posters saying you’re going to Hell if you don’t have one, or if you don’t follow mine? I don’t impose. And to say that I don’t/can’t enjoy life because of God is so laughable it’s not funny. What do I have to worry about? I had none until this ad came along. It makes me annoyed. It’s one thing to dismiss the Divine when you’re tired of pondering, but to discourage people from thinking for themselves and to imply that we Believers have no life is another thing altogether. Show a little respect, people.

As if we don’t already have enough problems on our plate. And I’m not talking about wars/occupations/invasions alone either. There’s widespread poverty and famine and illiteracy and piracy while most Arab leaders have their heads buried so far down in money they can’t see how screwed we are. On top of that, we’ve got an atheist bus campaign, ya’ll! Unbelievable. What will they think up next? This is an affront on all faiths, not only on Islam.

Now do you see why I’m scared of this world so devoid of belief in God?

Oh if only Rasulullah SAW was alive today, how his heart would break.

I truly, truly miss him. If there was one person who could fix this mess we’re in, he’d be that person.

“What happened to the ummah once known so well?
Greatness was known, but now can you tell?” - I’ve Seen

This reminds me of a Hadeeth from Muslim and Ahmad, where it was reported that Rasulullah SAW had said:

“Islam began as something strange and will revert to being strange as it began, so give glad tidings to the strangers.”

It came to this world strange to the pagan people then, and will leave the world strange to the (pagan?) people today. We might as well call this the Dark Ages.

And to think that down to his last breath, Rasulullah SAW had thought of nothing but us. His ummah, his ummah, his ummah. We were his main worry, his one concern.

Seeing things as they are today, I can see he had good reason.

May Allah help us get through these troubled times, and guide those who truly seek His Guidance. Ameen.

Enough said here.

Perhaps ads discouraging religious beliefs act as some sort of retaliation against the mainstream religious convictions which have been restricting and dictating their ideas and conducts? Maybe they view that their ideas and conducts have been unneccessarily suppressed and regulated under the pretext of religion, especially in the field of science.

The issue of whether schoolchildren should be taught the doctrine of evolution is I think a good example. The discovery of fossil remains which fill the evolution gap and the vestigial remains in mammals invariably point to the credibility of evolution theory, so say non-believer scientists, who seek to explain everything in terms of science. Yet the issue need to be decided by courts simply because Believers oppose to the idea for running counter against the Scriptures, thereby pitting the field of science against religion.

So do you think non-believer scientists should congregate and share among themselves a theory which, even if it fails, could be a testament to the creativeness and the power of the human minds simply because Believers fell offended or it does not conform to the accepted religious convictions?

(Jangan marah ye sister lubna. saya cuma harap kamu blh enlighten saya dlm aspek religion. kalau kamu marah tekan delete je)

Aik, kenapa kamu tulis qwerty? Sedang testing comment ke apa?

Taklah Poh, saya tak marah. And I don’t believe in deleting a comment just because I disagree with some of it. I believe in freedom of expression, as long as it’s exercised respectfully and responsibly.

I’m sorry if you felt offended in any way by my entry, but I cannot apologise for having written it in the first place. Admittedly, it was written on the spur of the moment, based on my instinctive reaction, and I could’ve phrased things better, but if given the chance, I wouldn’t alter any of the above contents, just maybe the approach.

I think I know where you’re coming from, and you raised a lot of interesting points in your comment. For my opinion however, I think it’s best for me to share it with you face-to-face. There’s far too many things to write, and I feel it’d be a much better exchange if I hear your reply to each point I bring to the table, rather than I give it to you in one whole lump sum.

I hope you have some free time the next time I catch you ok? Jangan lari plak, I won’t bite your head off (although it might have seemed like it the last time). I promise I’ll be good. :)

That ad is vile.

Yes it is insulting- as if they’re trying to say that those of us who do believe are just being silly, uptight people with sticks up our butts.

I actually have a lot to say, but pening lah… And I’m too preoccupied with Umairah.

Who’s Umairah, you ask? Check my blog. :D

THANKYOU Pai.

I thought I was the only one to oppose it, seeing as no one else seemed to be much ruffled about it.

I have seen Umairah! :D
