Can we go outside?

Posted by: lubnaaa | January 25, 2009 |

Whenever Dr. N says ‘the Rainbow (Warrior) case’ in my Public International Law lecture, it sounds like ‘the Rambo case’, and I end up doing just about anything to not let out a chuckle.
Note to self: Do not write Rambo in exam script later on.

Anyway, it reminded me of this trailer I got off from Awin:

Ah, the days before the Internet became worldwide, when social networking wasn’t born and kids didn’t rely so much on myspace for their self-esteem. I’m happy I was a kid during that era when children had nothing but imaginations to keep themselves entertained.

This trailer reminds me of my summer holidays in the early 90’s. It was a childhood spent outside the majority of the time. :)
Siapa ada, tolong pinjamkan? Because downloading takes ages.

Enough said here.

the clip reminds me of Wild America the one where three brothers went on a road trip to catch wild life on film together.

good fun. i could do without Internet and social networking. but i doubt i’ll go far without the former.

note to self: try surviving on encyclopedia and books and some grass n sun

Hey I remember that movie!

The thing is Daad, I don’t mind adults using the Internet so much, because we pretty much know the boundaries of what’s real and what isn’t.
Most of us, at least.
And we don’t rely so much on social networking to feel good.
But kids do.
And I don’t want my kids like that. I want my kids out in the sunshine, making friends in person, getting dirty, playing with mud, dreaming up imaginary worlds instead of playing some online ‘interactive’ game.
(What is it with me and all this talk of KIDS??? Dang it.)

Another thing - the weather isn’t as healthy as it was in our time. If you can find a nice patch of grass and a spot of sun without smoke choking the air, give me a call. I’d like to join you.

i watched the movie, son of rambow, it is good… making me remember the days when i was a kid in the kampung… mandi parit, buat batang kail ngan buluh, buat wau sendiri… its just so much fun…

Zimini, how come you get to watch all the movies I want to watch BEFORE me? Ni jeles ni.

I haven’t had time to look for The Fall by the way, but I still want to watch it. Care to suggest any online websites?

I watched this one in portions, while waiting in airports for as long my laptop’s battery still had juice enough to allow me.

It was sweet. I adore the way they spelled Rambow, like awww adorable kan.

Here’s hoping my kids and your kids get to share adventures on a planet named Zoidberg fighting one-eyed green polymorphic aliens, coming home with grazed knees and bursting with stories to tell.

Oh the mention of kids, haha. Got me there too.

I’d love that, watching them come running to us, with grubby fingers and tales of vanquish and conquer and how your daughter beat mine in batu seremban, or how my son beat yours in a race or maybe hear what trouble they’ve gotten themselves into, and then we’ll tut and fuss and scold and shake our heads as mothers always do.

Can you see how far ahead I’m thinking? Hehe. Maybe I’ll just godmother yours. ;)
