This is more of a commemoration than a celebration.
To remember and to repent.
From bad to good,
From good to better,
From better to the best.
So teach me as I would teach you.
Advise me as I would advise you.
Help me as I would help you.
I’m not perfect, never have been, never will be. I can only do so much before making my next mistake. The idea is to not repeat them.
And so to quote from Baba Ali, please remind me just in case I forget. I value reminders more than I let on, and a friend who reminds me is a friend who cares. I won’t label you judgmental; if I’ve gone astray, then I’m in trouble, and my Iman’s in trouble, and my Islam’s in trouble. If you turn your head the other way because you think what I do is none of your business, you would’ve left me in the dark.
Help me remember, that I may be led back to the Straight Path. I would need you to show me and guide me, and I will return the favours as best I can. In a time and age of cynicism, skepticism and disbelief, we need each other more than we realise.
I hope we all make that much-needed Hijrah this year, insya Allah.
This is from your sister of the Deen, praying for His Blessings upon all of us, Amin.
(Enough said here.)
