Like Jacques Cousteau underneath the Atlantic.

Other than a few projects in mind, I really don’t have any specific concrete plans these holidays other than to help out at home (which is easier said than done, because Ummi, Allah bless her, always has a looong list of chores and errands ready), reorganize my things (room, laptop, junk, etc) , study for my spec exam (long story), do some editing work, expand my playlist (do contribute, I’ve been relying way too much on poor Maddie and Zimini and my long-suffering sister), update my recipe book, catch up on a whole lot of movies I’ve missed this year, rebond with the paintbrush and palette, sew, bake, bowl, learn how to not stuff my face, conquer one of my last plausible New Year’s Resolution  (30 books by December 31st, and it’s been only 13 books so far, so a reading marathon is on the cards), find my missing postcards, berojak dengan Rojak, spend some time with campus friends without having to think about work for a change, and maybe, just maybe,  finally meet a few people I’ve been meaning to meet for some time now, since I hear school’s out for the summer/winter, depending on where you are.

As the saying goes, Man proposes, God disposes, so insya Allah all of the above will go through glitch-free.

I missed this year’s IYEP thanks to a completely absent mind that mixed up the dates, so since that’s down the drain, I’ll try and compensate by attending Yusuf Estes’ talks. He’s coming to Malaysia, folks!

Also, 9 months after Part Deux, Lutfi’s back home for the holidays, so he’s taking the other 2 sibs off my hands, and now I have a cooking partner. It’s weird but it’s like he never left. And as much as it’s nice having him here, he’s been busy upstaging me which is annoying, and he doesn’t even do it intentionally, which is even more annoying. He’s tutoring Widad for her SPM, and he’s making better dishes in the kitchen. Ugh. Does NZ dweebify its students or something? Can I have my brother back?

On to other plans, I think I’ll also be stocking up on Doctor Who as well, based on Awin’s high recommendations. Not many know I like sci-fi, but maybe that’s because I’m the persnickety type. Haha. Persnickety.

Not a Star Wars junkie or a Trekkie type, but more of the Douglas Adams’ Hitchhiker series and Whedon’s Firefly variation.

The former needs no introduction, while the latter is a gem of a series that unbelievably got cancelled before the end of Season One, but went on to become a successful award-winning motion picture anyway. The powers-that-be at Fox must be kicking themselves. The series is set 500 years in the future, about a band of space rogues and bandits who travel on a ship called Serenity, carrying out their clandestine activities due to hard times and their refusal to submit to a ruling government whom they see as corrupt and controlling in a Big Brother sort of way. It’s actually got quite an elaborate plot, Firefly, and it’s taught me some useful Mandarin phrases too. Totally jing tsai!

As for this Doctor Who, I’m going to watch it out of curiosity since David Tennant’s managed to knock Hugh Laurie’s Dr. Gregory House off the top spot on Awin’s list, which is inconceivable. It’ll be the War of the Doctors.

As you can see, I don’t have very high ambitions these hols. Nothing that’ll blow anyone’s socks off. No adventures planned out. Nothing world-changing.

But strangely, I think I’m happy.

Just like Jacques must have been, as he glided through the depths of blue.

Are you? :)
Enough said here.
