A brief update and a quick share of information:
I screwed up at work today. I won’t elaborate much because it’s too painful to recollect, but it was screw up big time. I am really going to need a whole truckload of luck to see my way through this one. I’m thinking of extending my internship for another week to make up for my inefficiencies.
Abah’s friend has given him and Ummi 2 free tickets to watch My Fair Lady, best seats in the house. Abah initially wanted to give them to my sister and I because he doesn’t dig plays, but apparently his friend had intended it to be some sort of husband-wife event where he and his own wife will be joining my parents. I am trying not to grind my teeth too much at this missed opportunity. Besides, I’ve done George Bernard Shaw already this year. Perhaps another time.
The upside of today was the introduction of Ahmed Saud to my knowledge, with due credits to my brother. In fact, I’m listening to his recitation of Surah Muzzammil as I type right now. I’ve always wondered why students overseas have so much access to these materials rather than over here, but since Lutfi’s keen to share, I shall have no further complaints. The first time I listened to Ahmed Saud reciting Surah Yassin…I just shivered. It was beautiful, simply beautiful. There’s no real adequate word for it; you’re going to have to listen to it to know what I’m talking about. I’m going through more of his videos on YouTube right now (where would we be without YouTube?) and so far, I think his Yassin recitation is my favourite thus far. Masya Allah. What a voice.
I’m afraid Syeikh Masyaari’s going to have to take a backseat for the moment.
Syukran ya akhi.
Enough said here.
