For the record, I missed the clash of the titans. I’ve been having a bit of a cranky week, and everything marked on my calendar just slipped from my mind.
Fara was the bearer of good news, to which I responded with an ecstatic bear hug. Apparently she was just passing along information from Adlan, whom I later gave the Spanish Inquisition for every savourable detail available. He wasn’t much help though. His brief comments were, and I quote, "2 gol yang bodoh…Bellamy and Riise". Azraa gave the English version when I met her in the musolla later on. "Stupid goals! They just didn’t make sense!"
Sigh. Oh ye bitter Devils, can’t you spare all that pompousness for one wee match? Besides, Xabi Alonso’s goals against Luton Town and Newcastle some time back could be described as senseless as well, but does that change the results?
I’m not getting too carried away though. As Rijkaard so plainly pointed out, there’s still 90 minutes left in the second leg to turn everything around in 2 weeks time, so until the Reds are past that stage, I won’t be partying too hard.
But credits should go where credits are due.
Besides. A solid victory at Nou Camp, and an opportunity to give a somewhat "warm welcome" to the Catalans at Anfield grounds is just too delicious to ignore, especially the circumstances surrounding the scoring Merseysiders that night, golf clubs and all.
I went to Ely’s public speaking class on Thursday night because we had a discussion afterwards, and I thought I might as well join in and observe from the shadows. It was there that I heard Aiman give a speech about how ’students skipped classes, lecturers lost concentration in lecturing and Prime Ministers woke up late…how the whole world stopped because Barcelona lost.’
It took me all of my willpower to refrain from pointing out that he didn’t once mention the team who brought about the defeat of the defending European Champions that night.
All together now:

Enough said here.
