What could you possibly expect from this condition?

Currently Playing: Jack’s Mannequin-Dark Blue.

This song is playing for the 7th time in a row now. Or maybe more. I don’t know, who’s keeping count anyway? How could I have not heard this one before? And I thought The Mixed Tape was their best.

Ok. 8th time now.

I seriously don’t get the music taste of the majority out there. The mainstream radio-listening majority, that is. Granted, I’m not the mainstream music sort of person anyway, but I love a good jolt of the predictable. Join the outside world and all that. Out of habit, I usually tune in to the radio in the morning to jumpstart the day (coupled with coffee) but Malaysia’s No. 1 hits radio station (imply away) just isn’t as hot as it used to be. Does this have something to do with my age? As far as I’m concerned, in no way am I on the wrong side of 20, having only just hit that turning point. So the notion of being disconnected and not understanding the ‘rowdy kids these days’ can’t apply. Just yet.

The thing is, I cannot stand all the songs topping the charts nowadays. Not one song. And this, coming from an eclectic! I have my limits–I only accept what counts as genuine music. Heck, if pop is what it used to be, I can even take that in. What I hear now though is just a lot of grunting and squawking, spews of meaningless lyrics that teens shouldn’t even be listening to. This is music? There’s a study that shows that pre-marital sex are all the rage right now precisely because of these type of songs. I mentioned this in a previous entry so that’s done with. I mean, what the heck? And these songs actually make it through the airwaves? And get over airplay?

Alright. So you may say: to each his/her own. I accept that. But…seriously? This is what’s hip nowadays? Are you for real?

Hmm. Maybe it is the age.

Oh hey. It’s Safwan’s birthday today. I doubt he’s reading this, but Happy Birthday Safwan! Allah bless you, ya akhi. =)

I miss night storms. You know. The kind that have thunders booming and lightning streaking across the sky. The kind that leaves you awake at 3am. The kind that makes you draw open the curtains to stare at rain pounding against the window panes. The kind that makes you watch your walls illuminated for brief seconds in the blue dark.

City lights and rain. Doesn’t that sound familiar? ;)

If anything, I love a good night storm. The louder, the better.

Take this as a prelude to whatever comes next:

Remember this? Its still one of my favourites by Natalie Shau (talk about copyright phobias), for reasons different than what you may think. I’m not all Macabre and Horror…and even if I was to some extent, we all are anyway.

Jack’s Mannequin aside, I think it’s time for Azure Ray to come on now.

Right. I really should move my behind in getting started on work. 6 days gone and nothing to show for it. Dang.

Tomorrow. Insya Allah.

First things first though.

Enough said here.

dark blue is verry nice,but their most played song for me is holiday for real,loves the theme the song deals wif

“Are you for real?” That has got to be the most brilliant remark I’ve heard for quite some time now. LOL.

I can’t agree more with your post. I find these “hits” that they play on air nowadays are insults to my intelligence. And the disk jockeys too. It’s like they have this really thick manual that has “Being stupid = good” written on every single page. We might as well hire monkeys. Not at all the stations though. Only Fly and the forever “new” Hitz.

This is starting to sound like an entry from me. LOL. Anyways, true music. Yeah yeah, to each his own. But, come on, if you have half a taste and quater a brain, you’d know that the music on air these days are crap. Why don’t they let rock (or perhaps, something harder that that. Pis. Hahaha.) songs be played on air? Why hippityhop that promotes indecent values gets all the airplays? They have this thing, if it’s a bit too hard (for them), it’s black metal. What a mentality. Gee. Anyway, before I go on with my grandfather/grandmother story, I think it’s best that I stop here. Ok. Stop. Hahaha.

hey, that pic..isnt that ophelia from ‘hamlet’?

on an unrelated note..

quoting ned kelly’s last words -

SUCH IS LIFE.

~~~~~
oh fukkit.
~~~~~

u want peace of mind? listen to sir edward elgar’s ‘chanson de nuit (night song)’ while there’s a light evening rain in your garden outside.

even better if u have full-length french doors and soft lighting to complement the night.

and make sure the cd reminds you of the wonderful moments you had in osaka.

=)

i think there’s an unwritten poem right there somewhere.

brownies calling. ciao.

again.

1. Dark Blue’s pretty much stuck in my head right now. Self-inflicted. Padan muka aku.

2. Tell me about it. This isn’t the first time I’ve ranted about the quality of music today (or lack thereof). I did a piece a few months back. After meddling with the radio knob yday morning though–felt another rant coming up.

You know what? A friend of mine once said that some of the most romantic lyrics come from rock songs, even heavy metal. I’ve listened, been surprised and see his point.
Haha.

3. Yup. Its so enchanting. Her death though—one can only guess whether it was one of peaceful despair or one of crazed madness.

*spoiler alert*
Why does practically everyone die in Hamlet?

Do u really have to swear here?

As for that peace of mind thing—clearly looks like its more of what you need. Send over the poem once you’re done with it. And the cookies while you’re at it.

finally, someone who’s heard of Jacks’ Mannequin. I only like The Mixed Tape though. And I love The Postal Service =) I’ve heard of Strays don’t Sleep’s For Blue Skies. I don’t think you’ve listened to Music from One Tree Hill Vol 2 CD, but Jacks’ Mannequin’s The Mixed tape and Strays Don’t Sleep’s For Blue Skies are both in the CD.

I tried downloading Athlete’s Wires, takleh. Bencila.

haha. I had no idea we had a lot of things in common ;)

Mardy:
Jack’s Mannequin, I got from this really cool rock website a friend suggested to check out…but I can’t remember the add. =(

For Blue Skies, from Widaad (whose a huge OTH fan). I checked out other Strays Don’t Sleep songs…go to their myspace page babes, Love Don’t Owe You Anything is worth a listen too.

As for The Postal Service—from some random blog. Dah tak ingat. The District Sleeps Alone Tonight remains their best song! To me-laaa…

Ohoho, we have similarities alright. You though, you take non-mainstream music to a whole other level. ;)
DOWNLOAD ATHLETE’S WIRES I SWEAR TO GOD YOU WILL LOVE IT GILER GILER GEGILERRR. Or I could just send it over to u on msn. =)

i know i heard of it =) i won’t download it if it sucks! hehe!

The Postal Service’s Be Still My Heart is quite good. I hum to it in the showers. I have yet to download their album though.

I recommend Nada Surf’s Always Love. Beautiful. It’s from OTH gak.

I can talk for days about my music preferences, from major label Indie (Death Cab For Cutie,Pavement, Modest Mouse) to underground indie and to unsigned undiscovered ones. It really gives me complete satisfaction when I discover an amazing band/song that no one has heard before.

And I’d like Wires very much, thanks =)
