I’ll Be Home…for the Holidays.

I love Christmas songs, no particular reason why. I remember singing Christmas carols back in England during school assemblies…and everyone (being wee children) singing at the top of our voices, with gusto and spirit. The normal hymns like ‘Silent Night’, ‘Away In The Manger’, ‘Noel’ were among my favourites. Of course, playing the part of an angel in Christmas plays for 4 consecutive years leaves that mark on you. I find ‘I’ll Be Home For Christmas’ pleasing to the ear as well. It’s somewhat melancholic.

I’m in the Coldplay/Oasis/U2 mood tonight. I’ve had Trouble, Yellow, Fix You, and Sometimes You Can’t Make It On Your Own playing repetitively for the whole night now, and I’m currently downloading The Scientist (how can I not have it?) Wonderwall’s on at the moment. Yum.

Man, it feels good to be back home for the hols. Back to whats strangely familiar yet seemingly distant at the same time. Back to alien normalcy.

Ok, I changed to John Mayer’s Daughters, just for kicks.

Anyway, came back to Mum’s cooking for dinner. I am going to be in huge trouble these 5 days…have a feeling I will stuffing myself silly. Mum and her cooking touch…gah! Will I ever inherit such genius? Highly unlikely, I’m afraid.

Wonderwall’s back on. Wait, The Scientist’s done. Ok, I’m playing that now. Lol, these monologues must be irritating to read.

I saw an Astro ad that bothered me just now. It’s very old, I know, but it still bothered me. It shows all these women working and doing what’s usually the job of the male spieces, and then proceeds to show many shots of women-filled streets. Then a question flashes across the screen: where are all the men? The answer comes in the form of a shot of guys all crowded around the TV watching a football game. I find that highly offensive, as I’m sure Aisya, Saz, Widaad and Maz would too. Not all guys are into footie, and there are a considerable amount of girls who are into the sport. Yes, the sport. (I know what you’re thinking). That ad is just so…wrong. And sexist, to some extent. You know what, I think we should have a girls footie club in IIUM. Have no idea how that will work, but if the idea has support, it’s already at the halfway point heading towards reality. Hm. Now there’s a thought.

My my, look at the time. I should be popping off to bed now.

Enough said here.
