Unplugged.

"I wanna run through the halls of my high school,
I wanna scream at the top of my lungs."

No Such Thing-John Mayer.

I don’t usually listen to John Mayer, but those words pretty much summed up my week. Plain tiring and nerve-wracking. Alas, those are typical words to describe the life of a student, no? Thank God for the company of good friends and late night texting with a good person. A form of staying sane.

My mother would tell me whenever I’m faced with such situations or bad times, to make the best out of it. Stay positive. Like Yani said, when life hands you lemons, make lemonade. What if life hands you bad lemons then?

Aih. I made a discovery earlier this week. Coffee doesn’t work. It does NOTHING to get you going. Or, it chooses to fail you when you most need it. My intake of Nescafe has been dangerously high lately. I’m talking coffee before classes, in between classes, after classes and so on. The only effect I’m getting is even worse bouts of fatigue. Tell me, who gets sleepy after gulping down whole cups of coffee, day after day? It was my mistake to have relied on it so much. In any case, if life handed me coffee beans, I won’t be making any coffee. Useless stuff.

I don’t understand why I get tired so easily nowadays though. I remember a week I had a few months back where I had to juggle between managing a mock trial (not easy!), planning rehearsals, memorising my script, preparing for 3 oral presentations on a murder case, Qisas law and the issue of abortion, prepare for an Islamic Law test, while being preoccupied with debates at night. All this crammed into 5 measely days, not counting classes. I made it fine, despite the fact I was completely drained that weekend (and almost nodded off in Arabic class). So how come I can’t handle a couple of tests, Millef meetings, and some tutorial work? God, I’m losing my focus.

Have you ever ran from one end of your campus to the other, under a blistering hot Malaysian sun, wearing a baju kurung with your tudung all messed up, merely to settle a few things within schedule? Of course, this question would only apply to girls (unless you’re a guy with strange tendencies.) Imagine abandoning all the womanly composures your mother has taught you and making a mad dash to the ends of the world, just so that you stay according to plan? Lol. My mother would not be proud at all if she had caught sight of me last Friday. But then again, we girls tend to act out-of-character more than once in a while, no? Like the time I was forced into heels (by dear mum yet again) for an engagement party, and took the long walk back to the car after the party barefooted, choosing to hold those menacing ‘things’ people call sandals instead. I honestly wonder how people can wear heels. It kills.

I came home the other night, completely wiped, and decided to do something different to cheer myself up. "Something different", I discovered, was playing dress up. Childish, yes, but I had a mighty good laugh over it. After about 5 minutes of experimenting with a beret, a scarf, and an outfit I forgot I owned, walla! Oui, a French model! Or so I kidded myself into thinking. Lol. Whatever the case, it cheered me up tremendously. So, should you ever feel down, take a walk back down memory lane when you were young and free, and do something you haven’t done in a long while. You might be surprised. =)

You know the saying ‘when my ship comes in, my dear, we shall be rich and happy’? When I was young, I’ve always wondered whether I was the only one who wanted to wait til the ship came in, scoop up all its treasures and throw it from the skies to the streets below for the people, grab the hand of the ship’s owner and sail away to places unknown instead. Now doesn’t that sound much better? Just a passing thought.

I have to go now.

I shall be donning my steely armour, with my faithful bow and arrow by my side, and on my powerful black horse, I shall ride straight into the heart of the battle, unleashing the fiery Inferno within.

In short, my finals have arrived.

Enough said here.
