The Butterfly Effect

Posted by: lubnaaa | May 14, 2005 |

Ok. This sounds silly. This sounds stupid. I swear though, the butterflies are out to get us! By us, I mean Yani and myself. It’s a flippin conspiracy! After the whole butterfly episode the other night, I have found myself bumping into about 4 butterflies, species similar to that which I had terminated. I’m pretty freaked…and its not funny! They’re everywhere! In the toilets, in the Butterfly corridors…Yani and I have been very cautious as of late. I think the dead butterfly’s kins are seeking revenge. Last night, our windows were partly closed, and somehow one got in…I suspect it was Dead Butterfly’s Cousin Thrice Removed. Anyway, it basically flew at Yani and myself. Naturally we ran around the room screaming… I don’t scare THAT easy, but having crawly legs all over my face is another thing altogether. To cut the story short, I grabbed a plastic bag and trapped it inside. It was fluttering around wildly, and I was dancing around with my hands still firmly pressed on the floor, whilst Yani scouted the room for something to keep it there…and was just about to grab the pail when I decided I didn’t want to kill yet another beautiful being. So, I summoned up my courage, lifted the plastic bag, threw open the windows and set it free. I think I’ve acheived redemption for my past sin.

That aside, Yani and I have finally come to terms that WE ARE THE BORED. Last night, we were lepaking on the floor, leafing through each other’s school mag, eating tuna with Rollercoaster crisps and bread (Yani, read: crunchy =D) when suddenly this siren blared out. We both immediately jumped up and ran to the window, peering outside…and saw nothing. Sigh. Saw 2 cars driving by…Yani managed a ‘is that a car chase?’ Lol. Alas, it was just 2 cars driving by…so we resumed our lepaking on the floor…but not before I declared a WE ARE BORED! Yes, I indeed said the ‘B’ word, therefore confirming our predicament. A friend, who I shall refer as Virtue here, left me the wise words that boredom was a choice, not a condition. =) Blogging about butterfly conspiracies and scrambling for the window to watch 2 cars drive by really has stamped the big P for Pathetic on my forehead though. I don’t think it’s my choice to…but we’ll see what I’ll try doing to spice things up. Things might just get more interesting.

Oh, this one deserves a mention. A few nights back, Yani and myself had tumbled into our girl pals’ room above ours to watch a movie. Tentang Dia, it was called. Prior to that night, I had not heard about the movie…which somehow earned me the label ‘uncool’ by my apparently more cool mates. Oh well. If Hermit I be called, so be it. Anyway, Yani, Maz, Widaad, and Adora were crashing on one bed. I came a little later…the movie was already halfway done by then. Maz and Adora bowed out since they had seen it so it was the three of us, all transfixed on Yani’s laptop. Needless to say, the last half of the movie left all 3 of us sniffing and sobbing and moaning and grabbing to each other during intense moments…there was this one particularly touching part where the male lead character wore a shirt that was too tiny for him to please the girl he had fallen in love with…she had given the shirt to him as a gift…it left Widaad and I wailing while Yani grabbed onto the ladder of the double decker bed we were crashing on. Yeah…we came to the conclusion that no guy would ever do that in reality…or even if they did, it wouldn’t be for us. Another scene had all three of us sniffling in unison, which pretty much amused Maz (who does not have the ability to cry). Ah, gibberish talk as usual. Spent the rest of the night texting a friend til the wee morning hours…I don’t think I’ll ever learn to sleep early. I need to kick this habit of mine…but its impossible when I have so much to be awake for! That, however, is another story.

Oh my flipping heck, my first test is on Monday. Better get off here, haven’t done anything. GAH.

Enough said here.

Hey man, i dunno what you were thinking, killing beautiful innocent butterflies and all, but I’ll tell ya one thing. Having butterflies follow you around is wonderful! Now I dont approve of the murdering, but… I’ve always wanted butterflies to follow me when I was a kid! You’re living in my fairy tale!

I assure you Pai…its a living nightmare. I’d love butterflies to follow me around too…butterflies that don’t look sinister that is.
