Its a freakin’ly small world after all

Posted by: lubnaaa | April 13, 2005 |

I’m listening to Adia (Sarah Mclachlan) at the moment…Abby was right, its addictive. Thanks, ice queen. =p

Ok, about a couple of entries ago, I had mentioned about the guy I kept on getting instead of my cousin, and my musings on whether I had disturbed a cranky old bloke. This is unbelievable, but it turns out that he goes to the same university I’m attending (hence disproving my earlier crazy assumption).  How scary is that? Ironic is too mild a word, I had a jaw dropping moment. Here was I, contemplating (as usual) how far and disconnected people nowadays seem, and then suddenly the world just got smaller. Heh. What a world.

Anways, tonight’s the prickly Liverpool-Juventus match, delicate because of the Haysel Stadium tragedy 20 years ago which happened when both teams went up against each other. It left 39 people dead. I really don’t know why I’m explaining this, football fans would already know regardless of which team they support, and non-football fans wouldn’t care. *shrugs. I’m not an avid football fan myself because I just can’t sit still for 90 minutes, but I’ve been supporting Liverpool since the time MU was THE TEAM and when I found out Liverpool was their mortal enemies. Yeah, I know, its not a very valid reason to support a team, but I’ve been following their news for quite a long time now and I admire their skills. For girls (or guys, God forbid) who support a team just because of the eye candies running around after a ball…well, what can I say? Just be honest and say you’re after the hotties out there rather than saying you think the game’s beautiful. Back to Liverpool, its the only team where the coach isn’t as arrogant or loud as…ahem…other coaches. I won’t say more here though, I have a couple of mates who’d threaten me with scathing messages if I continue.

Another thing I’d like to mull about. I know Liverpool’s in a bad shape at the moment, and they haven’t won the Premier League since forever, but that doesn’t mean I’ll turn my back on them and go support, say, Chelsea. Why do certain people INSIST on me changing teams just because they’re rather hopeless at the moment? That, my dear friends, is what LOYALTY is all about. F1 though…that’s a different story. I loved Mclaren when Mika was in it because of his humble attitude, but now the drivers driving for the Mercedes team happen to tragically be the drivers I least like. Raikkonen and Montoya…aih, enough said.

To all LFC and Juventus fans, catch the game tonight and cheer your hearts out even though it makes no difference. Football is a game that unites, so lets hope things don’t turn ugly.

LFC fans, sing with me here . =)

When you walk through a storm
Hold your chin up high
And don’t be afraid of the dark.
At the end of a storm
Is a golden sky
And the sweet, silver song of a lark.

Walk on, through the wind,
Walk on, through the rain,
Though your dreams be tossed and blown.
Walk on, walk on with hope in your heart,
And you’ll never walk alone,
You’ll never walk alone.

Enough said here.
